Somali Language Centre provides interactive, inclusive education that empowers children and adults, from age 5, to master the language, deepen their cultural understanding, and engage meaningfully with Somali-speaking communities worldwide.

More than lessons. We create a supportive environment that builds real, lasting confidence in the language.
In-person learning
Learn directly from the teacher with immediate feedback on pronunciation and conversation. Face-to-face learning accelerates progress and builds confidence through real-world interaction and personalised guidance.
Group work
Practise with fellow students in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Collaborative activities mirror real conversations while building friendships and easing the anxiety of speaking a new language.
Learning resources
Access quality materials that support your learning beyond the classroom. Practise independently at your own pace, reinforcing vocabulary and grammar to maintain steady progress between lessons.
History & culture
Discover Somali history, traditions, poetry and customs that bring the language to life. Cultural knowledge deepens understanding and helps students communicate authentically with Somali-speaking communities.

Who we are
Keeping the Somali language alive for the next generation
The Somali Language Centre is a community organisation dedicated to teaching the Somali language and celebrating Somali culture. We believe every learner deserves the chance to connect with their heritage, to read the poetry, understand their elders and pass the language on.
Based in East London, our welcoming classes bring families and the wider community together through language, storytelling and shared traditions.
